The York Bump and Baby Expo brings together businesses from all over York, Greater Yorkshire and beyond for a celebration of all thing’s ‘Baby.’ It is a great chance to meet local makers and get an up close feel for their fantastic products and services.
York Bump and Baby Expo
Held at York Racecourse, the venue was packed full of lovingly decorated stalls, workshops, activities and of course many a baby bump! Although a Bump and Baby Expo, there were plenty of products and services on show that were relevant for toddlers and young children also.
The first things that caught my eye were the unbelievable balloon displays, created by Imagination Creations UK (based in Leeds). I have never seen balloon decor like it, I am desperate for an excuse to order one!
We met lots of local service providers including Little Green Rascals, who have a hugely successful string of organic nursery schools across York that focus on gentle care and holistic methods. We have previously been to some of their pop-up sessions in York city centre and have always been really impressed, so it was lovely to hear about their childcare services. The kids were very happy to stand at this stall…may have had something to do with the snacks on offer!
We also learned about the massage services on offer at Nurture Health and Wellbeing, and the children enjoyed learning about their backs with the lovely ladies from Highthorn Physiotherapy Clinic. Everybody we met and spoke to was so friendly and inviting.
One thing I absolutely loved about the York Bump and Baby Expo was meeting so many local crafters and makers, the talent on offer in our little city is really humbling. My favourites were Happy Little Cloud who had a stall full of beautiful handmade mobiles including some adorable felt hot air balloons which really had me considering having another baby, and House of Clouds who’s handmade lamps had the girls captivated for ages. They were so quirky and beautiful. We had to drag them away!
Tiny Talk Baby Signing had also set up some fantastic activities which changed hourly to keep little ones entertained, including a great picture hunt around the hall. Much appreciated!
There were dozens of stalls and walking around browsing the baby clothes, accessories, decor, pushchairs, toiletries, services, etc was a lovely way to spend the afternoon.
There were also talks, Q&A sessions and meet and greets with Sally from Mum’s Back and Vicki from Honest Mum blog which were really interesting.
We also received a fabulous goody bag containing samples from Jojo Maman Bebe, Mummy Buddy, Boka, Hottea Mama, Milton, Kokoso Baby, Mustela, My Little Piccolo, Vitabiotics Wellwoman, Print Cakes, We are Refreshed, Pure Natural Therapy, York Cocoa Works and Kit & Kin. (Gifted to the first 50 guests and members of the press team.)
The event organizers have done a great job at making the York Bump and Baby Expo an engaging, varied and captivating day out and I cannot wait to attend next year! The only problem is I have left feeling very very broody!
